Three men were struck by lightning in Houston Sunday as they played soccer during a thunderstorm. Two of them were killed while the other was injured. They’d been in the middle of a soccer game when the thunderstorm began, prompting them to move underneath a tree for shelter. Lightning struck one of the trees, hitting all three of the men and killing one of them on the spot. The other died after being transported to the hospital, where the third remains in stable condition. Between 50 and 100 Houston homes have been flooded by rain this past week.
