Uber CEO Travis Kalanick has ordered an investigation into alleged sexual harassment and gender bias at the company. The probe comes after Susan Fowler, an engineer who used to work for the ride-sharing company, claimed in an online account to have been harassed by her managers. “What she describes is abhorrent and against everything Uber stands for and believes in,” Kalanick said in a statement. “It’s the first time this has come to my attention so I have instructed Liane Hornsey our new Chief Human Resources Officer to conduct an urgent investigation into these allegations.” Fowler alleges in part that she was coerced into having sex with her manager, and was threatened with termination after she complained to HR.
