Uber Settles With Waymo in Self-Driving Car Case

Waymo has settled with Uber and the judge has dismissed the case over stealing trade secrets for self-driving cars. Waymo had accused Uber of using “at least one Waymo trade secret” in their own self-driving cars. Waymo, which is owned by Google's parent company Alphabet, claims that when Uber bought another Google engineer’s startup, the engineer brought 14,000 of Google’s files with him. Uber, however, claimed that their sensors in their self-driving cars are unique and that the engineer’s work at Uber was unrelated to his work at Google. The settlement comes as both companies are currently exploring and developing for the self-driving car market.
