After being referred to in an indictment against FIFA officials by the FBI, two major UK banks, Barclays and Standard Chartered, have started internal reviews. The FBI indictment did not accuse the banks of any wrongdoing. After the FBI investigation, Swiss prosecutors announced they are opening a criminal case looking into the bigs for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, which went to Russia and Qatar.
