Demands were made in British Parliament on Wednesday that a proper investigation be widened over allegations that a shady private eye who worked for Rupert Murdoch’s company News International conducted illegal phone and computer hacking on targets such as former prime minister Tony Blair and Kate Middleton. Private investigator Jonathan Rees allegedly conducted illegal information-gathering at the Murdoch publication News of the World. “I believe powerful forces are involved in a cover-up,” former Defense Minister Tom Watson said, claiming that there has been an attempt to thwart a police investigation.
