Battles in Ukraine escalated on Saturday despite Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s warning that the fights are putting a ceasefire deal with Russia in “big danger.” The U.S. and Ukraine both accused Russia of ramping up its offensive in a grab for territory just hours before the ceasefire is supposed to take effect at midnight. Seven soldiers have been killed and 23 wounded in the past day, according to a Ukrainian security spokesman.
