Syrian protesters won’t have a show of support from the United Nations Security Council after Russia and China vetoed Tuesday a resolution condemning the government’s crackdown. U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice said it was an “outrage” and walked out after the vote. She lamented a "cheap ruse by those who would rather sell arms to the Syrian regime than stand with the Syrian people.” The resolution had been rewritten several times to attempt to meet Russian and Chinese demands, but still failed to pass muster.
