U.N.: Libyan Rebels Guilty of War Crimes

The human rights arm of the United Nations said Wednesday that both sides in the Libyan conflict were guilty of war crimes, although the accusations against Col. Muammar Gaddafi were more numerous. The report was carried out by a team of three human rights experts and based its findings on interviews with 350 people in both government- and rebel-held areas, as well as refugee camps outside the country. The experts said they found evidence of murder and torture in a pattern that suggested Gaddafi was behind them. The report also raised concerns about alleged torture and murder by the Libyan rebels against migrant workers, which also constitutes war crimes. Earlier on Wednesday, NATO extended its mission for another 90 days and explosions were later reported in Tripoli.
