UN Restarts Feeding Syrian Kids

The UN World Food Program resumed sending food to 1.7 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq, and Egypt. The UN announced the program would be suspended on Dec. 1 due to insufficient funds, but a fundraising drive raised $80 million for the program. Individuals donated $1.8 million, while countries funded the rest. Those donations will allow families to each receive about $30 per family member by the middle of the month. “This outpouring of support in such a short time is unprecedented,” WFP Executive Director Ertharin Cousin said.
