U.S. Ambassador Robert Ford is safe after being barraged with tomatoes by a crowd loyal to the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Ford was meeting with politician Hassan Abdul Azim when about 100 protesters surrounded the office and tried to get in. Meanwhile, Syria once again accused the U.S. of inciting violence against its military. The U.N. is scheduled to vote on a resolution demanding an end to Syria’s violent crackdown on protests, which the organization estimates has killed more than 2,700 people. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and White House spokesman Jay Carney strongly condemned the armed mob's actions.
