According to Yemen’s defense ministry, eight al Qaeda members died in a U.S. drone strike in eastern Yemen on Friday. The men were apparently armed with machine guns and explosives and according to authorities, were possibly on their way to carry out an attack. This is the third drone strike in the province this week, as Washington steps up attacks against spreading militias that they say threaten the U.S. and nearby Saudi Arabia.
