U.S. GDP Grew 3% in 3rd Quarter—Despite Two Hurricanes

The U.S. economy grew at a rate of 3 percent in the third quarter, despite two major hurricanes that analysts had expected to weigh on the measure. The Commerce Department report early Friday said Hurricanes Harvey and Irma did disrupt energy industry output and business activity in big metro areas in Texas and Florida, but admitted it was not able to fully measure the economic impact from the storms.
