According to Afghan defense officials, the soldier who assassinated a U.S. General outside of Kabul on Tuesday had spent three years in the Afghan army. "What motivated the shooting is still under investigation, but the shooter was an army soldier, not a terrorist from outside the base," said the official. The Afghan killed Army Major General Harold Greene, which was the highest-ranking U.S. military official killed in action overseas since Vietnam. A German general was also among the 14 coalition troops wounded during the shooting.
