WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange can stop fearing an “illegal rendition”: New evidence suggests that intelligence analyst Bradley Manning took it upon himself to allegedly steal documents, contrary to suggestions by the Defense Department that Assange persuaded him to do so. In fact, there’s little evidence that Manning and Assange ever had contact, says The Wall Street Journal. Such a connection is key to any charges against Assange; the Journal says the FBI and Justice Department continue to gather evidence and could still press conspiracy charges, based on lower-level WikiLeaks’ members contact with Manning.
