U.S. Heat Wave Blamed for Five Deaths

In case you haven’t been outside, it’s really hot. Record-breaking temperatures are broiling half the country in what looks to be a 6-10 day heat wave. The unseasonable heat is already being blamed for the deaths of five elderly people in Tennessee, Maryland, and Wisconsin. Public schools in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Maryland cut their days short yesterday as temperatures reached the 90s, while cooling centers opened in Chicago, Memphis, and Newark. Scientists say we may have to get used to the sweltering heat. A new study on climate change from Stanford shows summer temperatures becoming permanently hot by the middle of the century.
