U.S.: Mullah Omar Death ‘Credible’

The White House said it believes reports of Taliban leader Mullah Omar’s death are “credible.” Afghanistan’s intelligence agency said Wednesday that the reclusive Omar died in a Karachi, Pakistan, hospital two years ago. (The Taliban deny he’s dead.) The one-eyed Omar had a $10 million bounty on his head for hosting al Qaeda after the 9/11 attacks. Like many wanted men in the region, he has been reported dead several times.
