Earthquake’s death toll climbs to 75.

The U.S. has sent a search-and-rescue team to Christchurch, New Zealand, after Tuesday’s 6.3 magnitude earthquake that devastated the region. The quake’s death toll has climbed to 75, while Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker said an additional 300 people were missing. Rescue workers were said to be going door-to-door to check for survivors, while one police commander said there were scenes of “absolute carnage.” The Royal New Zealand Air Force began evacuations Wednesday morning, sending survivors to Wellington while Australia and Singapore have promised to pitch in.
