One U.S. servicemember was killed and four others were wounded during a “combat engagement,” the Pentagon announced in a statement Tuesday. The incident took place in Achin, Nangarhar province, in eastern Afghanistan. Two of the injured servicemembers were in stable condition at a medical facility; no other information was available.
