As Iraq battles a militant takeover, President Obama has announced plans to send 200 more U.S. troops to the country to protect American citizens and property if necessary. There are already 600 troops in Iraq training local forces and securing the American embassy. According to the letter Obama sent to congressional leaders on Monday, along with manpower, the U.S. will send rotary-wing aircraft, security forces, and other military support.
