Pretty soon all that will be left for U.S. tourists is Canada. A new U.S. travel advisory from the State Department is warning that the Islamic uprising by the Boko Haram terrorist network in northern Nigeria could expand, and therefore advises citizens not to travel to 16 of the 36 states in Nigeria. In those states, Americans have been the victims of violent crimes like kidnappings, rape, and home break-ins. “Boko Haram is known to descend on whole towns, robbing banks and businesses, attacking police and military installations, and setting fire to private homes,” the advisory says. Militants have been reported in Niger, Chad, and Cameroon as well.
