Another one of the year’s big issues is winding up in the courts: The Justice Department filed suit on Wednesday against BP, Transocean, and seven other companies involved in the Gulf oil spill. The suit asks that they be held liable for all removal costs and damages without limitation. The U.S. is hoping to recover billions of dollars.
