Jesse Matthew, the man accused of abducting a University of Virginia student this year, pleaded not guilty on Friday to three charges from a reported 2005 sexual assault and attempted murder. The crimes are unrelated to the kidnapping. Matthew is accused of grabbing a 26-year-old woman in Fairfax, Virginia, dragging her into a wooded area, sexually assaulting her, and only stopping when he was startled by a passerby.
