The Department of Veterans Affairs chief of staff has resigned after it was revealed she manipulated emails in order to have the airfare of Sec. David Shulkin’s wife covered by taxpayer dollars during a 10-day Europe trip. Vivieca Wright Simpson told colleagues on Friday that she would be leaving after 32 years at the VA and more than two years at her post. The announcement comes after the VA inspector general found that Simpson misled ethics officials into paying over $4,300 in flight costs for Shulkin’s wife.
