The U.S. House of Representatives voted on Thursday to allow VA doctors to recommend medical marijuana as a treatment option for veterans in states where it is already legal. Currently, VA doctors are not allowed to talk about medical marijuana or recommend it as a treatment option. The amendment, part of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bill, passed 233-189. "From what I hear from veterans is that medical marijuana has helped them deal with pain and PTSD, particularly as an alternative to opioids," said Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon), who sponsored the amendment.
