Venice Film Festival Lineup Announced

ONES TO WATCH

Includes Road to Nowhere, Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere.

The Venice Film Festival has unveiled its 2010 lineup, offering its youngest set of directors ever—their average age is just 47. The fest, which begins September 1, will feature Sofia Coppola’s dramedy Somewhere and Monte Hellman’s romantic thriller Road to Nowhere. In total, the festival will feature 79 world premieres, including Vincent Gallo’s Promises Written in Water, Kelly Reichardt's Meek's Cutoff, and Athina Rachel Tsangari's Attenberg. The Affleck brothers will each offer an out-of-competition movie—Ben Affleck’s crime thriller The Town and Casey’s documentary about his brother-in-law and fellow actor, Joaquin Phoenix, called I’m Still Here. It was previously announced that Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman, will open the festival.
