Vet Guilty of Killing ‘American Sniper’

JUSTICE

Life in prison with no parole.

A Texas jury found former Marine Eddie Ray Routh guilty Tuesday in the murders of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, the real-life “American Sniper,” and his friend Chad Littlefield. Routh, 27, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing Kyle and Littlefield two years ago at a Texas shooting range. Routh had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. His lawyers contend Routh suffered from mental disorders, but prosecutors argued he had a mood disorder that was triggered by drug use. Kyle, who claimed to be the deadliest sniper in American history, was made famous by his biography, which later was depicted in the 2014 film American Sniper.
