Three Vietnamese bloggers accused of spreading antigovernment sentiments online have been given jail sentences of between four and 12 years after a perfunctory trial. The three allegedly posted messages on a banned website known as the Free Journalists Club. The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi issued a statement in support of the jailed bloggers, specifically singling out Dieu Cay, a soldier turned dissident writer who received the longest sentence and whose case was raised by President Obama last year.
