If this video is any indication, the Beastie Boys’ Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch must have had great karma.
To promote ‘MCA Day'— an event celebrating Yauch’s life on the anniversary of his 2012 death—a group of breakdancers dressed as Buddhist monks took over Manhattan's Union Square Saturday, popping and locking to the Beasties’ 2004 hit “Ch-Check It Out.”
Apart from being a hip-hop pioneer, Yauch was also a devout Buddhist and inspired Beastie Boys songs with titles like “Bodhisattva Vow,” “Namaste,” and “Shambala.” However, if one Beasties song title fits this loving tribute to the late rapper, it’s “Gratitude.”
