The top story in Anchorage, Alaska on Sunday night wasn’t just reported by KTVA; it was KTVA. More specifically, while reporter Charlo Greene was reporting on the Alaska Cannabis Club—described on their website as a ‘medical marijuana collective organized to serve patients throughout Alaska’—she confessed to viewers that she started the organization.
‘I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy for fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska,’ the conveniently named Greene said on air Sunday evening.
Pre-empting questions about the future of her career at KTVA, she had no more to say than, ‘Fuck it. I quit.’ With a shrug, Greene walked off camera, leaving a flustered anchor with the unenviable task of apologizing, regaining control of the broadcast, and trying to avoid becoming a meme. Unfortunately, she failed at all three.
