Virginia Board Passes Strict Abortion Rules

While Kermit Gosnell was taking up the majority of news on abortion, Virginia passed a set of new, restrictive rules. The commonwealth's board of health voted 11–2 on Friday to require clinics that perform abortions to meet hospital-style building codes. Many providers argue that the strict codes would put them out of business. The Virginia’s attorney general quickly certified the new rules, and they will now be sent to two state agencies and the governor, who is expected to approve them.
