Fire and ice make strange bedfellows, but researchers believe a volcano may be brewing under the a mountainous area of western Antarctica. A number of law-magnitude earthquakes hinting at a volcanic eruption have been detected in the Marie Byrd Land over the past few years, according to a study published on Sunday. It's unlikely there will be a massive eruption because of the half-mile of ice insulating them, but even a small eruption could affect the climate of the region after time.
