A female correctional officer was found dead at a Washington state prison Saturday night, authorities said Sunday. Jamie Biendl, 34, was discovered strangled after her colleagues noticed her radios and keys missing. An inmate reported absent during a routine head count was later found in the prison’s chapel; he told officers that he had planned to escape but then decided against it. The prisoner is now being held separately in a segregation unit while the entire complex is on lockdown.
