Walmart associates in 15 cities plan to protest illegal firings and disciplining of employees for participating in demonstrations for better pay and protections. OUR Walmart, a union-backed group that is organizing employees, has filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board after Walmart illegally fired 20 workers and disciplined a total of 80 for participating in last year’s Black Friday strike. The company has denied the disciplinary actions. The group, which is also organizing Thursday’s demonstration, said it expected thousands to participate.
