As Hurricane Patricia crashes into the western coast of Mexico, bearing down on millions of residents with nearly 200 mile per hour winds, the rest of the world is anxiously watching with white-knuckled dread. We will be curating the most telling, and compelling, images and posts from social media here, so check back often.
UPDATE: As Patricia makes its way inland, the winds are weakening to a still Category 5 strength of 165 mph. The storm made landfall at 7:15 p.m. ET, on Mexico’s southwestern coast. The brunt of the devastation is expected to befall the smaller fishing villages near Cuixmala, and many residents as well as a reported 15,000 tourists have been evacuating the coast throughout the day.
