Forty years ago, during the summer of 1973, Watergate was the top news story. President Nixon had handily won his reelection, but evidence was mounting that his campaign was involved in spying on his political enemies. By April of 1973, things began to unravel. Several of his top advisers either had to resign because of the scandal or were fired. Then came the revelations that Nixon taped conversations in the Oval Office.
