West Hollywood Bans Fur

It’s too hot to wear fur in California anyway. West Hollywood has banned the sale of fur, the first city in the nation to do so. The fur-free City Council unanimously approved the ban late Monday night, thanks to the lobbying of animal-rights activists. The city had already banned the sale of cats and dogs in pet stores, and the declawing of cats. Critics and business owners say the ban is an unconstitutional infringement on their freedoms.
