W.H. Video Blog Shows 'Everything'

Or at least, everything they want us to see.

Ever wanted to take a real peek into the inner workings of the White House? Well you can, once President Obama launches "West Wing Week," his new behind-the-scenes video blog. Obama, who vowed to be the most transparent president in White House history, will be featured in a weekly compilation of video clips produced by official White House videographer Arun S. Chaudhary and branded as “your guide to everything that’s happening at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.” Although many presidents have utilized media to broadcast their image, as far back as Grover Cleveland and most notably FDR’s famous “fireside chats, the video blog highlights some contention about Obama's need for control. Journalists have complained about Obama’s media practices, particularly their limited access. One governmental-affairs professor says it’s “all about bypassing the capital press corps.”
