Wild headgear and hairstyles calling to mind Max's wolf ears and the Wild Things' horns have surfaced on runways and red carpets alike. A model with hair fashioned like a pair of horns showed up on Marc Jacobs' neon ridden Fall/Winter runway. The designer also outfitted Madonna in a pair of bunny ears in the latest Louis Vuitton ads - a style H&M subsequently picked up on, putting model Sasha Pivovarova in a bunny ear-like bow for their 2009 ads. Meanwhile, the Olsen twins are showing their support: the pair sported lace ears courtesy of designer Maison Michel to Opening Ceremony's recent Tokyo boutique opening. But they weren't the first. Lady Gaga wears the same porn-appropriate pair on the cover of NEO2 magazine's September issue.

Whether fashioned in knee-length, cocoon-like coats, as it was at Michael Kors and Lanvin, or as accoutrement or a full dress like at Givenchy, fur was as ubiquitous a trend on recent catwalks as was the over-sized shoulder.

Both Max and the Wild Things sport simple horizontal stripes within the pages of Sendak's tome. Coco Chanel, the designer who has been canonized in more than one film this year (including the recently released Coco Avant Chanel), was famously a fan of fisherman-inspired blue and white striped clothing. And, perhaps one of Balmain's most memorable mini-dresses shown on its Fall/Winter runway was an asymmetrical striped, sequined blue frock sported by model Erin Wasson.

Animal prints made appearances on runways from Mara Hoffman to Diane Von Furstenberg in February. And, Kate Moss has followed in the former's footsteps, serving up a snake print dress as part of her collection for Topshop for fall. Also slated to hit Topshop's racks next month: A crocodile t-shirt from Christopher Kane that distinctly resembles the coveted gorilla dress he included in his Spring collection.

Fashion is collectively looking to a new generation of taste-makers this fall. Both Pop and Love's September issue pay tribute to fashion's "new blood" (13-year-old fashion blogger Tavi Williams of Style Rookie) graces the cover of the former, while the latter's latest issue focuses on the 18-and-under set).

Not only is the aforementioned, Little Red Riding Hood-themed Vogue editorial shoot set in a wild forest, so is the W shoot published in August of 2007, which features some near identical shots. Meanwhile, Mulberry's autumn ads showcase two models in an untamed forest as wild as their free-flowing, uncombed hair. To boot: Vera Wang titled her new Bridal Collection " Forest Fantasia".
