The White House just isn’t willing to quit spying yet. The Obama administration is putting pressure on Congress not to curb the National Security Agency’s controversial spying program during a vote Wednesday, saying that the legislation will cause the program to “hastily dismantle.” The spying became public thanks to Edward Snowden last month, and Republican Rep. Justin Amash has put forward an amendment to block funding of NSA’s collection of personal data if “that data does not pertain to a person under investigation.” NSA chief Gen. Keith Alexander spent Tuesday lobbying Congress, holding closed-door sessions with Democrats and Republicans to persuade them to vote against the legislation.
