After 16 years as a fugitive, James “Whitey” Bulger was ordered back to Boston Thursday for his alleged role in 19 murders. What did his life look like all those years on the lam? He and his girlfriend paid $1,145 a month for their Santa Monica apartment. Neighbors say Bulger never left the home without a baseball cap or fedora and large sunglasses; while his girlfriend, Catherine Greig, was nice, he was apparently surly. When the FBI searched Bulger’s apartment, they found $800,000 cash and 30 guns.
