The Zika virus is no longer an international public health emergency, the World Health Organization said Friday. David Heymann, the WHO’s executive director for communicable diseases, said at a press conference that the virus is still a “significant public health challenge requiring intense action,” and continues to spread. Long-term research, Heymann said, is required in order to understand more about the virus.
