WikiLeaks Founder to Make His Fashion Debut: Fashion and politics are an unlikely combination, but when designers come to the defense of the politically controversial, big things can happen. WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange—who has been fighting extradition to Sweden while living in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London—has found support from designer Ben Westwood, who has asked the whistleblower to model his upcoming collection. The show, set to take place this September, will be held at the embassy where Assange resides. “Julian’s been in the embassy for two years and it’s important that he doesn’t slip into obscurity,” the designer told the Daily Mail. “I want to highlight Julian Assange’s plight. What happened to him is totally unfair. I’ve designed something for him along those lines [inspired by The Good, The Bad And The Ugly] and will be getting him to wear it.” [Vogue UK]
