Darren Wilson told investigators that Michael Brown charged at him the night he fatally shot the unarmed teenager, according to a source with knowledge of his statements. Wilson claimed the two struggled for the pistol in a police SUV and said Brown pressed the barrel of the gun into Wilson’s hip. According to Wilson, he fired two shots, hitting Brown in the hand. Brown took off in a run but then Wilson claimed Brown turned around and charged at him. Anthony Gray, the lawyer for Michael Brown’s family, denounced this account as “absurd from beginning to end” and a “concocted version of events that nobody supports.” A recent forensic report shows Brown was shot at close range and supported Wilson’s claim that Brown’s hand was on or near the gun.
