A Colorado woman who cut a stranger’s unborn baby out of her and tried to kill her was convicted Tuesday on multiple charges. Dynel Lane, 36, was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder, unlawful termination of a pregnancy, and assault in the attack on 27-year-old Michelle Wilkins. According to court documents, Lane tried to choke Wilkins, then used two kitchen knives to cut the unborn baby girl from her womb in March 2015. Wilkins, who was eight months pregnant, reportedly told Lane she loved her in the hopes that it would make her stop. Lane reportedly replied, “If you love me, you’ll let me do this,” before reportedly stabbing her in the neck. Wilkins survived the attack; her unborn daughter did not. Lane was allegedly pretending to be pregnant at the time and was able to lure Wilkins to her home by posting a Craigslist ad for maternity clothes.
