An unidentified woman in New York died Friday after falling into the frigid waters of New York’s East River. The woman fell off a water ferry pier in Williamsburg as a ferry was approaching. An NYPD scuba team found the woman and paramedics rushed her to Bellevue Hospital in extremely critical condition but doctors could not save her. Officials told the New York Daily News that the icy river’s temperature could kill a person without protective gear in four minutes; the woman had been in for 20 when she was retrieved.
