Woman Sets Herself On Fire in Chicago Congressman’s Office

Illinois officials said a woman walked into the office of a Chicago congressman Tuesday, drank from a bottle of hand sanitizer, poured the gel all over herself, and then set herself on fire. The woman, who has not been identified, was rushed to the hospital in serious condition, police say. The congressman, U.S. Rep. Danny Davis, was not in his office when the incident took place, and it is not clear whether he had any connection to the woman. A statement issued from his office said the woman came in at about 3 p.m. and only spoke with office staff briefly before picking up hand sanitizer and setting herself on fire. Staff immediately tried to put her out with a fire extinguisher but she ran out while still on fire.
