        Jolie's Stunning Entrance

The flash bulbs were blinding as Angelina Jolie approached the red carpet at this year’s Women in the World Summit. The actress-turned-director spoke about her new movie, In the Land of Blood and Honey, which shines a light on violence against women during the Bosnian war. When asked why she tackled such a difficult topic, Jolie said, “We are all compelled to do the best we can for the things we care about.”

        King Chooses WITW Over Sleep

Magnificent. That is how This Morning co-host Gayle King described the Women in the World Summit. Even after a long day on her TV show, King says that attending the opening of the summit was a nonnegotiable. “I’ve been up since 3:30 this morning, but there are some things that are important and this is one of those events.”

        DVF: “I’m So Humbled”

The stylish Diane Von Furstenberg couldn’t say enough about the empowering women being honored at this year’s Women in the World Summit. “A lot of them have overcome huge misery and huge, horrible things,” Von Furstenberg said. “And not only do they overcome it for themselves, but then they turn it into something positive to help others.”

        Burch Gives Back

Tory Burch is known for her stylish clothes and accessories, but the designer also has a big heart. In addition to starting a multimillion-dollar company, Burch has committed herself to several charities, many of them focused on issues facing women and children. “I’ve always been interested in women’s issues, ever since I was a little girl,” Burch said. “So for me to be able to do something about it is a great thing.”

        Messing on WITW: Inspiring

Debra Messing took a break from her new show to spend some time with the women she admires the most. The Will & Grace star said she gets invited to glamorous events all of the time, however, nothing compares to the feel she gets when in a room surrounded by such empowering women. “This is the thing that makes me feel most excited and privileged—to be invited to a night like this.”

        Brown’s Dream Realized

Tina Brown is not only the editor in chief of Newsweek and The Daily Beast, she is also the force behind the Women in the World Summit. Brown and her team have worked tirelessly over the past few months to bring together of some of the most inspiring leaders and activists from around the world. For Brown, seeing it all come to fruition was almost unbelievable. “It’s like the pages of Newsweek, 150 fearless women, came alive!”

Furness: “I Love Seeing Chicks Out There Doing It”

Who runs the world? Girls! Deborra-Lee Furness couldn’t contain her excitement when talking about the amazing women who were being honored at this year’s summit. Furness, aka Mrs. Hugh Jackman, was just as pumped to hear the panels as she was to help find solutions. “I’m looking forward to being educated and finding out what I can do to help.”
