YouTube Starts Renting Movies

Another shot at Apple.

YouTube, which is owned by the search giant Google, will start renting movies online, in another shot at rival Apple, the Financial Times reported. The rental service kicks off Friday with films from this year's Sundance Festival, to be made available to viewers for $3.99 each. A YouTube spokesman said the kinds of rentals available will expand over the coming weeks. Meanwhile Apple has its own plans for making new profit. The Wall Street Journal describes the computer company's reliance on old media amid plans to unveil its tablet device next week.
