More than two billion people are at risk of contracting the Zika virus in Africa and Asia, according to a report from the British medical journal The Lancet. At least 65 countries have Zika outbreaks. The Lancet Infectious Diseases published a report suggesting that people most vulnerable to the virus live in areas where it would be difficult to detect, prevent, or respond to infections. The Lancet pointed to populations in certain areas of India, Indonesia, and Nigeria as the most vulnerable.
