Angela Corey, the Florida state attorney who oversaw the George Zimmerman case, has some harsh words for Twitter. “I think social media is going to be the destruction of this country,” Corey said. Corey was reacting to the outpouring of anger over the conviction of Marissa Alexander, a 32-year-old Florida woman who was sentenced to 20 years for firing a warning shot at her abusive husband who was violating a restraining order. Unlike Zimmerman, Alexander argued she pulled the trigger in self-defense, but her reliance on the "stand your ground" law didn’t work. “How dare people just repeat something without checking it’s true,” Corey added, noting that the two cases are very different.
